J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. announced that Tom Ditzler, Portfolio Director in the company’s R&D division, is the recipient of the 2022 J. J. Keller Founders Excellence Award.
The Founders Excellence Award honors the legacy of John J. (Jack) Keller, who began the company on November 1, 1953, and the foundational principles he put into practice that have enabled J. J. Keller to become a most trusted name in safety and compliance in North America. The award also recognizes the qualities that J. J. Keller Chairman Robert Keller and Vice Chairman James Keller have recognized over their careers as exemplifying true leadership, no matter one’s position. These qualities result in care for customers, care for fellow associates and care for the community – above and beyond.

As James Keller shared during the award presentation, “Tom was nominated by a member of his team, who credits Tom with essentially ‘writing the book’ on servant leadership. He is known for being highly inclusive and always taking the time to ensure all impacted stakeholders have a voice in product ideation, selection and execution.”
These leadership traits of being inclusive and giving attention to all stakeholders translate well for J. J. Keller’s external customers.
“Tom is credited with always having the end customer in mind – he takes the stance that everything we do must come from the point of view of the customer,” said Jim Keller.
As the 2022 J. J. Keller Founders Excellence Award recipient, Ditzler was able to direct a total of $2,500 in grants from the J. J. Keller Foundation, Inc. to nonprofits of his choice. Ditzler selected Leaven, a local organization that assists and empowers people in financial crisis, and World Central Kitchen, a global nonprofit providing meals for those in humanitarian, climate and community crises.
