Menasha Corporation is a packaging manufacturing and supply chain services company comprised of two companies: Menasha Packaging and ORBIS Corporation.
Menasha Corporation has grown to be one of the oldest privately held, family-owned manufacturing companies in the United States. With a mission to help its customers protect, move and promote their products better than anyone else, the company designs and manufactures sustainable corrugated and reusable packaging, provides fulfillment services for nearly every major consumer goods company in North America and is a critical supply chain partner for more than 3,500 global brands.
Headquartered in Neenah, Menasha Corporation has more than 7,500 employees in 110 facilities in the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe — including 11 facilities in Wisconsin. Though Menasha Corporation’s size, scale and reach today would be unrecognizable to its founder, Elisha D. Smith, who bought and grew the pail factory in the 1800s, the company’s unfailing core commitments to integrity, values, innovation and adaptability would be refreshingly familiar. These are the qualities that set Menasha Corporation apart and what help the company’s owners — who include seventh-generation descendants of the founder — remain proud of their company and of the employees who have shaped and evolved its success for nearly two centuries.

The City of Menasha will be celebrating its sesquicentennial or 150th anniversary in 2024 with special events throughout the year.
Incorporated as a city in March 1874, Menasha developed into an industrial center with nearly 2,500 residents known for the largest wooden ware producer in the world and a growing number of paper mills, tapping into the water power of the Fox River.
In 1905 Menasha began to manufacture its own electric power. It started servicing its residents in 1911. Today Menasha’s electric rates are 30% lower than neighboring communities with investor owned utilities. In the 1980’s Menasha adopted the “New Horizon” logo and tagline to signify the City’s easterly growth to Lake Park Road.
Menasha has seen a lot of change over the years and seeks to continue recent progress. Whether an individual is staying for a short time or their entire life, Menasha strives to be a welcoming community with a myriad of opportunities to live, play, and work.

Back in 1944, Wisconsin farmers Lyle and Ellen Lamers founded Lamers Bus Lines. They started with a single school bus and served the Grant School District and Nicolet High School. In 1950, the company continued to grow when Lamers began providing transportation for the Ashwaubenon School District. By 1960, Lamers became transportation provider for the Green Bay Area School District.
In 1966, the company opened their corporate headquarters in Ashwaubenon by the Austin Straubel International Airport. The first coach the family bought was a used Greyhound PD 3751 in the 1960s and Lamers Bus Lines began offering motor coach charters. In 1974, they started buying new coaches, and for the next decade, added new vehicles to its fleet each year. In November 1980, Interstate Commerce Commission granted Lamers Bus Lines permission to transport charter bus tours anywhere in the continental United States as well as legal authority and permits to organize group tours and sell on a per-person basis.
Since 1972, Lyle’s sons, Allen and Kevin, along with their children have taken over the day to day responsibilities of running the company. Lyle Lamers passed Dec. 30, 2012 at the age of 97. He had continued to drive bus until age 72 and was still active in the company well after that. Now, 80 years later, Lamers Bus Lines is Wisconsin’s largest family-owned bus company, still operating with the same community-mindedness as at the beginning.

In February 2004, Legacy Private Trust Company, an institution that would redefine the paradigms of private wealth and asset management, was established. Founded by Mr. Michael B. Mahlik and Joseph E. McGrane, Legacy was born out of a vision to offer a new paradigm in wealth management, focusing on personalized service and customized portfolio management. This vision was realized when the Department of Financial Institutions granted approval for the company to commence operations on February 18, 2004. Just five days later, Legacy opened its doors for business in Neenah, Wisconsin, embarking on a journey that would lead to remarkable growth and success.
The 20th anniversary of Legacy Private Trust Company on February 18, 2024, marks a significant milestone in the company’s history. The founding team set a foundation for the company that would stand out in a period marked by transformative shifts within the trust and financial services sector. At a time when the industry was characterized by mergers, relocations, and a trend toward consolidation, Legacy distinguished itself by maintaining a focus on personalized client service. Their innovative, single-purpose charter in the state of Wisconsin was a pioneering move that set Legacy apart from the diminishing personalized attention and increased employee turnover seen elsewhere in the industry.
As Legacy Private Trust Company celebrates two decades of exceptional service and growth, it stands as a testament to the founders’ vision of providing personalized and customized wealth management solutions. The company’s success story is not just about its expansion in terms of employees, assets under management, and geographic footprint; it’s about setting a standard for excellence in the industry. Legacy’s history is a narrative of pioneering spirit, dedication to client service, and a relentless pursuit of excellence that continues to drive its success today and into the future.

91.1 The Avenue is NE Wisconsin’s independent, nonprofit, listener-supported radio station. Our playlist is completely curated by hand, not by algorithms, for a sound that reflects the community. With thousands of songs in rotation, from several genres and decades of music, it is how people like to listen to music and a rarity on the dial.
Beyond the playlist, The Avenue’s mission includes giving free air-time packages to nonprofits – giving them a voice to get their message out to do good work in this community. Finally, The Avenue is dedicated to supporting the artists who create the music that enriches our lives – by platforming their music, hiring them for our events, and showcasing them through interviews and on promotional albums.
The station that would eventually become 91.1 The Avenue, started out as the radio station of Lawrence University in Appleton in 1956. We have the distinction of being Wisconsin’s oldest noncommercial FM station not part of the Wisconsin Public Radio state network.
91.1 The Avenue, WOVM in its current format has remained an important part of the radio dial and this community for 15 years. A true testament to the commitment of our listeners and supporters and a rare accomplishment in the media landscape.
