Menasha Police Department Introduces New Facility Dog

Press Release Facility Dog Officer Koda

Officer Koda is a 2 ½ year old golden retriever/ yellow lab. The Menasha Police Department worked with Can Do Canines, an ADI Accredited organization, to assist us with locating a Facility Dog that would work best for the needs of the police department and community. Officer Koda is working alongside School Resource Officer (SRO) Rick Heinen who primarily works with elementary school aged children.

Officer Koda is trained in approximately 40 commands which will assist students and staff with offering emotional support, alleviating stress, and assisting those in crisis.

Officer Koda and SRO Heinen are still in training, however students and staff at Menasha Joint School District will be seeing them out and about as they continue their Field Training process. Officer Koda has only been working with SRO Heinen for one week and has already made a positive impact with multiple students and staff members.

The Menasha Police Department would like to thank the community for their support along with those that have graciously donated to assist us in bringing Officer Koda to our community and Menasha Joint School District.

In the coming weeks we will be hosting a more formalized meet and greet session with Officer Koda and SRO Heinen.
