Matthews Tire presented a $16,000 check to Northeast Wisconsin-based nonprofit Take ‘em Outdoors after their successful annual Oil Change for the Better event held July 24 – 28 and July 31 – August 4, 2023.
Matthews Tire technicians completed an incredible 946 total oil changes across all six locations (in Appleton–East and West, Menasha, Waupaca, Fond du Lac and Green Bay), with $15 from each oil change benefitting the cause.
“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to receive these funds,” said Shad Loch, president of Take ‘em Outdoors, who proudly accepted the check from Matthews Tire. “This money will go a long way to help the kids and adults we serve enjoy the fishing and hunting experiences Wisconsin is known for.”
Matthews Tire President Trevor Rezner said the decision to support Take ‘em Outdoors with this year’s fundraiser was easy. The nonprofit aligns with the company’s preferred areas of support, which include children and veterans, alongside those centered on cancer or animals. “We’re happy the event was such a success. It’s our honor to offer this donation to a small, local nonprofit that can bring joy and outdoor experiences through its unique mission.”
Take ‘em Outdoors is a Northeast Wisconsin-based nonprofit dedicated to taking either children with severe or terminal illnesses or combat-wounded veterans into the outdoors. Founded in 2006 as a way to provide options to those with limited opportunities, Take ‘em Outdoors has grown into a wonderful experience for both the recipients of the program and those providing it. People who have a child diagnosed with a severe illness or handicap or who are combat-wounded veterans are encouraged to contact Take ‘em Outdoors for a chance to get into the woods and out on the water. Oil Change for the Better is an annual charity event held by Matthews Tire. Since 2012, Matthews Tire has raised over $105,000 for various local nonprofits including Fox Valley Humane Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Salvation Army, Disabled American Veterans Transportation Program, Catalpa Health’s Race for a Reason, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Old Glory Honor Flight, Saving Paws Animal Rescue, Walleyes for Kids, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Child Care Resource & Referral, SOAR Fox Cities, WisconSibs, Breast Cancer Family Foundation, a variety of local food pantries, Wisconsin Veterans Village Association, Hand-N-Hand of Northeastern Wisconsin and Take ‘em Outdoors.
