St. John Nepomucene Catholic Community in Little Chute has broken ground on its new parish center, which will house parish staff offices and provide more space for parish activities, programming, and meetings. St. John staff and parishioners, students from St. John Nepomucene Catholic School, the Faith Development team, and representatives from Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction, Inc. broke the ground following Mass on Sunday morning.

The former office complex, built in 1959, has been removed to make way for the 21,400 square foot space, designed with energy conservation and environmental friendliness in mind. In addition to enhanced parish offices, the new parish center will include:

  • Easier access and more space for the Parish Food Pantry
  • Dedicated classrooms and meeting spaces for Faith Development Education
  • Expanded children’s programming areas for children’s liturgy
  • Multi-purpose rooms for programming, Bible studies, prayer groups, and rental space for meetings and celebrations
  • Improved handicap accessibility

“The new parish center will not only provide updated work spaces for our staff, but numerous faith-based opportunities for parishioners of all ages,” said Father Ron Belitz, St. John pastor. “I pray construction of the new space goes smoothly and ask God’s blessings on the construction crews building it. I know this space will be a wonderful addition to our faith community.”

The new space will have floor to ceiling windows along with wood, glass, brick, and stone finished to complement the rich history of faith in the community, dating back to 1836. Hoffman assisted in the initial feasibility study and planning and is providing full design and construction management services through the project.

“The parish center addition will offer new office space for administrative staff and will provide a location for events and faith development that is connected but outside of the current gathering spaces that are becoming congested due to high utilization,” explains Kurt Peeters, Hoffman senior project architect, project lead, and St. John parish member. “As a St. John’s parishioner and Hoffman employee, I’m so proud to be involved with this project. The parish center will be a great asset to the St. John Nepomucene and Little Chute communities for generations to come.”
