Community First Credit Union CEO, Maurice Dresang connected with longtime runner, Gloria West and both co-founded the marathon. Bridging the Fox Cities was the original goal of the marathon. It started as an event guided by the principle of unity. Tied to fitness and family.
Our mission is “To inspire health, wellness and community – one step at a time.” We donate proceeds from our events to local nonprofits. As of 2022, we have given over $1 million to these organizations.
The Fox Cities Marathon brings together opportunities to sponsor, volunteer and participate. As a non-profit organization, everyone involved makes it a possibility to give back to the community.
We have events for people of all ages, including a Kids Fun Run, 5k and 10k, and long distance events (full, half, relay marathons). 96% of our participants are from Wisconsin, and in 2022 we hosted people from 26 states and Canada.
Over the past 31 years, the Fox Cities Marathon has donated over $1 million to area nonprofits. Our course goes through 7 municipalities within 3 counties. We have over 1,000 volunteers and incorporate cross country teams from area high schools to help with intersection controls.
The community! We are a community supported and community supportive event. Participants from outside the area compliment on our survey how they are so surprised how much of the community comes out to support them.
We are stonger than ever. This will be the 32nd running of the marathon, and the community has supported this longevity. We are a premier fall event for the running and walking community.
The marathon is a Boston Qualifier course. But, this isn’t all about elite athletes. This is about reaching personal goals for anyone. And, we love walkers!
