SECURA Insurance was founded in 1900 by Julius Bubolz, a local farmer, after a tornado tore through New Richmond, Wisconsin causing incredible property damage, killing more than 100 people, and injuring 500 others. Bubolz decided that something needed to be done to ease the inevitable financial burden caused by future storms. On March 1, 1900, he shared his plan for a mutual insurance company with his neighbors, proposing that each member would have an equal voice in management and promised to assume his share of losses and expenses. With a handshake, The Farmers Home Mutual Hail, Tornado, and Cyclone Insurance Company of Seymour, Wisconsin (now SECURA Insurance) was born. Throughout the past 125 years, SECURA has remained a mutual insurance company focused on the shared mutual success of its stakeholders. The company has grown as a property-casualty company and sells its products through a network of more than 550 independent agency partners across 13 states. SECURA now provides flexible, customized insurance options for a range of businesses, farms, agribusinesses, special events and nonprofits.
