Menasha announces ribbon cutting at Jefferson Park Playground

The public is invited to attend a grand opening and ribbon cutting for the new Lighthouse Playground at Jefferson Park on Thursday, June 27 at 5pm. The playground is the next phase in a multi-million dollar reimagining of this important community resource.

“This playground is an exciting enhancement to Menasha’s most used park” stated Megan Sackett, Menasha’s Park and Recreation Director. “The playground is designed to be inclusive of everyone’s abilities with a wide variety of slides, climbing and spinning structures, swings, ramps, zip lines, and musical instruments to foster imaginations where everyone can interact and play together.”

The 15,000 sq. foot playground is one of the largest in the area with space for over 200 kids including:

  • unique area dedicated for children aged 6 months to 23 months
  • Intergenerational adult/child swings
  • accessible zip line, glider rock n’ ship, swings, and surfacing
  • wheelchair accessible ramp into the main play structure
  • musical instruments
  • spinning net climber
  • multiple slides, 14’ climbing tower, and roller slides
  • integrated landscaping, shade structures, and seating areas

The playground’s design theme reflects Menasha’s motto, “Your Place on the Water,” incorporating a lighthouse tower and play elements such as pelicans, turtles, frogs, and cattails.

In addition, the main pavilion just east of the playground has been fully renovated with new tables, upgraded kitchen, skylights, fireplace, and family restroom facility.

Jefferson Park is located at 915 Third Street with easy access from the Friendship Trail via bike.

The City of Menasha will be celebrating the opening with food trucks and a ribbon cutting beginning at 5PM.
