McCarty Law LLP, a top law firm in Northeast Wisconsin, is proud to announce that partner Jon Fischer has been added to the Wispact board of directors. Wispact is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and improving the quality of life for Wisconsin residents with disabilities, particularly by establishing and managing Special Needs Trusts (SNT) that are used to protect the assets of individuals with disabilities without affecting their eligibility for public benefits.
Fischer is a well-suited addition to Wispact, bringing ten-plus years of law experience in estate, probate and Medicaid planning. Fischer’s background in SNTs was honed through his service as a member of the Fox Valley Estate Planning Council and as the secretary of the State Bar of Wisconsin Elder and Special Needs Planning Section, among several other memberships and directorships. Fischer is passionate about using his expertise to assist and protect those who benefit from Wispact’s services.
“There is a limit to the amount that people with disabilities are eligible to receive through public benefits, and having an SNT can allow those people to build up some savings for the unexpected events that we all face at one time or another,” explained Fischer. “Wispact serves as an advocate for SNT beneficiaries, making sure that they are operating within the state guidelines so that they receive the maximum benefits available to them and are protected in the case of an unexpected expense.”
