Valley Transit to Modify Service Hours

Beginning July 15, 2024

Valley Transit plans to expand VT Connector ride-share amid bus driver shortage

Valley Transit, the public transportation service in the Fox Cities, announces important modifications to its service offerings in response to ongoing operational challenges. These changes, set to take effect July 15, 2024, involve expanding the role of the VT Connector, Valley Transit’s on-demand micro-transit service, during non-peak hours.

Starting July 15, Valley Transit will shift from fixed-route buses to the VT Connector after 6 p.m. on weekdays and after 1 p.m. on Saturdays. This on-demand service, which already complements Valley Transit’s fixed-route buses, will become the primary mode of public transportation during these non-peak times.

“We understand that this decision impacts many of our valued riders,” said Ron McDonald, general manager of Valley Transit. “Although it was not an easy choice, it is a necessary step to ensure we continue providing safe and reliable transportation within the Fox Cities.”

To support the community in transitioning to the VT Connector as the primary transportation mode during non-peak hours, Valley Transit will host a series of community education sessions which will be listed on the Valley Transit website as they are scheduled. These sessions will provide detailed instructions on booking rides and navigating the service.

The VT Connector service requires passengers to schedule their rides at least two hours in advance. All one-way trips on the VT Connector will cost $2, a fare separate from the fixed-route bus fares. VT Connector will serve the same areas as the fixed-route buses, including Appleton, Kaukauna, Menasha, Neenah, Buchanan, Grand Chute, Fox Crossing, Kimberly and Little Chute.
