J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue (JRAAR) is pleased to announce that the Iguana found near Oshkosh West on October 2, 2024, has been successfully reunited with its owner. The Iguana, named Chloe, was identified after a friend of the owner saw JRAAR’s Facebook post and quickly alerted them.
The Iguana had escaped from the second story of a home where it was being cared for by the owner’s mother. Chloe tore a hole in a window screen before jumping down and wandering off. Fortunately, the Iguana did not travel far and was not missing for long.
The Iguana sitter was unsure where to turn for help and was initially concerned about the legality of owning a large lizard in Oshkosh. JRAAR’s John Moyles reassured her that owning Iguanas is legal in the city and that JRAAR would safely hold Chloe until the necessary repairs were made to prevent another escape.
John Moyles expressed his happiness with the quick reunification:
“We’re thrilled that we were able to reunite Chloe with her family so quickly. It’s always a joy to see these stories have a happy ending. We’re here not only to help care for these animals but also to provide peace of mind to owners during stressful situations.”
JRAAR continues to encourage the public to reach out if they find or lose exotic pets, as they work closely with local authorities and community members to ensure the safe return of animals.
