Third annual event hosted by People of Progression
In the spirit of Black History Month, People of Progression invites you to attend the third annual Black History Month & Afro Hair Fair on Saturday, February 15.
The event is dedicated to empowering the community by strengthening healthy Black hair care education. It is designed to support local cosmetology schools, parents and guardians of Black children, group homes, transitional living shelters, salons, and anyone invested in textured hair care. This special day will provide valuable opportunities for attendees to learn and grow while fostering a deeper understanding of the community’s hair care needs.
From 12 PM to 4 PM at Fox Valley Technical College, the event offers hands-on experiences, expert guidance, and local business vendors selling handcrafted products. Attendees can shadow skilled haircare professionals, gaining insight into their techniques. Engaging workshops will provide practical hair care education while textured haircare experts share their knowledge and personal experiences to inspire and inform. Families with children are especially encouraged to attend, as the event aims to promote self-care, boost confidence in young people, and connect families to the resources they need. This gathering celebrates education, culture, and community, bringing everyone together to support healthy hair practices.
Registration is required. General admission is $10 with the opportunity to register and purchase admission to individual workshops. Registration details can be found here.
