Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity helps Vue family achieve homeownership for the new year

Year-end match helps giving go twice as far this holiday season

Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity, a leader in affordable housing solutions, is giving the Vue family a Christmas to remember by celebrating the completion of their new home and their future as homeowners. The family of 5 will participate in a home dedication at their new home in Neenah at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19 alongside the donors, sponsors, volunteers and community members that made it possible.

Boon Vue, his fiancé Lisa, and their three daughters, ages 10, 3 and 2, as well as their two dogs Maverick and Caramel, have moved around quite a bit in recent years. About five years ago, the Vue family was struggling to make ends meet despite Boon and Lisa both working full time jobs. After the birth of their two youngest daughters, the family moved to a rental home because they were looking for stability but that home needs constant repairs. The family is responsible for paying for them, despite not owning the home, and it has become both a physical and financial burden to keep up with the repairs.

“Home is where we can unwind and be surrounded by our loved ones,” explained Boon Vue. “Where we can hang our pictures of memories on the wall and cook the best home-cooked meals. Home is where our kids are comfortable and safe playing with their toys and coloring books. Home is where we can be ourselves.”

“Fox Cities Habitat exists to help people get a hand up in life by helping them secure a mortgage payment they can afford,” explained John Weyenberg, Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity CEO. “As a community, we don’t succeed unless we all help each other out. While Fox Cities Habitat is helping the family learn how to become homeowners and building the home alongside the Vue family, it’s only possible because of the donations we receive from the community and our great sponsors. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us build homes that give families stability and security for a brighter future.”

The Vue’s home is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Integrity Insurance and Menasha Corporation, and countless individual contributions that allow Fox Cities Habitat to do outstanding work in the community year-round.

Their story is the most recent to highlight the impact individual donations can make in creating vibrant communities throughout the Fox Cities. Right now, those individual donations to Fox Cities Habitat can go twice as far thanks to a match campaign from Acts 20:35 Family Fund. All donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000 now through Dec. 31.
