This year’s License to Cruise car show will feature a new and exciting fundraising opportunity to support area nonprofits.
A “car smash,” sponsored by The Breaking Point, LLC and Gibson Iron & Metal, will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. on Friday, September 27 as part of the License to Cruise car show. The car smash will be located at the corner of College Avenue and Appleton Street, near Houdini Plaza. Cost is $10 for 3 “smashes;” proceeds will be returned to the community, via grants given to nonprofits through the Octoberfest grant program.
Similar in concept to the “rage rooms” that are popping up in area communities, participants of the car smash will have the opportunity to take a few whacks at a car, donated by Gibson Iron & Metal. To ensure participant safety, the car has been stripped of all glass and fluids. Participants must be 18 or older, will need to sign a waiver prior to their turn, and must wear safety equipment provided by The Breaking Point, and closed toe shoes.
License to Cruise kicks off Appleton’s Octoberfest weekend on Friday, September 27 and runs from 3-9 p.m. along College Avenue, and inside the Fox Cities Exhibition Center.
Gary Rohde, License to Cruise Committee Chair, will do a ceremonial first smash at 5 p.m. to kick off the fundraiser.
