Fox Cities Performing Arts Center and Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra Partner to Present Music in Motion: A Sensory Inclusive Performance

New sensory-inclusive event Music in Motion invites individuals of all backgrounds to come together for musical collaboration and engagement at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. Tickets are now on sale for the event, which is an expansion of the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra’s In Harmony program in partnership with Expressive Therapies.

Listen. Play. Dance. The community is invited to experience the power of music and movement with Fox Valley Symphony’s quartet and Expressive Therapies – the Fox Valley’s first and only creative arts therapy clinic.

This exciting upcoming partnership program is the result of community organizations joining together in the mutual interest of inclusive community fun. Expressive Therapies will inform the utilization of music therapy in the program, which is meant as an unintimidating approach to help improve or maintain mental health through music. Plus, the evidence-based benefits of integrating music and mental well-being are buffeted by expertise from all angles: a board-certified music therapist, a multicultural community gathering site, and professional musicians.

Participants of all ages and abilities can expect to engage with interactive elements like scarves and instruments to join talented musicians in play and dance at this sensory-inclusive concert. Patrons will have the option to use jingle bells, tambourines, rhythm sticks, and spoons to experience the joy of making music together.

Featured songs will include Lion Sleeps Tonight, Queen of the Night’s Aria, Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka, Brahms’ Hungarian Dance, Turkey in the Straw, and Don’t Stop Believing.

The event is coming to the Kimberly-Clark Theater in the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center on February 15, with performances at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to connect, create, and thrive!

Tickets cost $15 and are available at foxcitiespac.com/event/music-in-motion-a-sensory-inclusive-performance.

Thank you to the Mielke Family Foundation for supporting this inclusion initiative.
