UA 400 Pipe Trades and the Mechanical Contractors Association (MCA) will host the 2023 Kick Off Your Future Skills Competition on Thursday, May 4th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the UA 400 Training Center in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Eighteen high school teams from Northeast Wisconsin will complete a field goal project based on specific design requirements. Projects are judged on correct dimensions, weld quality, and design/appearance. The competition allows high school students to test their skill and connect with experts in the trades with the winning school will receiving a Miller 211 MIG Welder.
UA 400 Pipe Trades offers paid apprenticeships in pipefitting, pipe fabrication, plumbing and HVAC/R service. Their five-year apprenticeship programs provide classroom instruction and on-the-job training from UA Certified Instructors at UA 400 training centers alongside experienced UA journey workers and apprentices. UA 400 also offers a Youth Apprentice Program for juniors and seniors attending high schools in Northeast Wisconsin.
UA 400 with 2,400 members serving 18 counties in Northeast Wisconsin, is proud to offer some of the nation’s best training programs including the only fabrication program in the state. Graduates of the UA 400 Apprentice Program are trusted to deliver only the highest quality of work in the pipe trades industry. UA 400 works in conjunction with the Mechanical Contractors Association of Wisconsin (MCA) to serve the unique needs of local contractors.

Students will tour the state-of-the-art 61,000 square foot UA 400 training center and talk with representatives from UA 400 and its signatory contractors about apprenticeships in Plumbing, HVAC Service, Steamfitting, Welding and Fabrication. Participating high schools: Appleton East, Appleton North, Appleton West, Ashwaubenon, Bonduel, De Pere, Freedom, Green Bay Preble, Kaukauna, Kimberly, Little Chute, Luxemburg-Casco, N.E.W. Lutheran, Pulaski, Reedsville, Shawano, West De Pere, and Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
