The Family Radio’s Help for the Homeless Hygiene Drive Tops $665,000

The Family Radio Network’s 31st annual Help for the Homeless Hygiene Drive celebrates another a record-breaking year! Over $665,000 worth of new hygiene and cleaning supplies now stock the shelves of 101 crisis programs in 19 communities across Wisconsin. The Family Radio thanks the 927 businesses, churches, and schools who hosted collection boxes – and all those who so generously donated these products to help their local crisis programs. Thank you!

Since 1992, The Family Radio’s Help for the Homeless Hygiene Drive has provided more than $5.4 million dollars’ worth of hygiene and cleaning supplies for local Wisconsin crisis programs and those they serve. The goal of the hygiene drive is to supply a year’s worth of products to each of the participating programs, with donations remaining in the communities where they are collected.

Our shelves are full again – and we can actually ask our clients what they need! “Fixodent Denture Cream? No problem!” “Deodorant for your 3 teen boys – coming up!” Laundry soap is back, along with shampoo, diapers, feminine hygiene and much more. Our clients are so relieved and grateful to receive these things, and I have happy tears and goosebumps from my experiences of helping them! THANK YOU to everyone who donated to The Family Radio’s Help for the Homeless Hygiene Drive. God bless you all! – Karen VanderWielen, Salvation Army Emergency and Special Services Case Manager

Right after we unloaded the donations, a young father with a baby came looking for help. “We just moved from a shelter into a new apartment, and I need everything – but I understand if you can’t help.”  When I told him that we had everything he was looking for, including diapers for the baby, he was incredibly grateful! – Amanda Johnson, Exec. Director, Howe Community Resource Center, Green Bay Area Public Schools

The Help for the Homeless program is so amazing!  The donated hygiene products for our residents make it possible for us to focus our funding on programming needs.  COTS is honored to be a part of this drive.  It is heartwarming to see our community come together to help our struggling neighbors. –Cari G., COTS, Appleton

The Family Radio Network partners with area homeless coalitions and crisis programs by inviting the community to donate needed hygiene and cleaning items for their local agencies through the Help for the Homeless Hygiene Drive. Supplying the crisis programs with laundry soap, hair and dental care items, deodorant, diapers, and other personal care and cleaning products makes it possible for them to dedicate their limited financial resources to providing qualified personnel, education, counseling, safe housing, and nutritious food to those they serve.

Businesses, churches, and schools participate by placing collection boxes in their high traffic areas and inviting their own staff, members, and students to donate. Financial donations are also welcome.

The Family Radio Network along with the 101 participating crisis programs, thanks everyone who hosted boxes, donated, volunteered for, and sponsored the drive!

Save the date! Next year’s dates are February 11 through March 3, 2024. More info at thefamily.net or call 800-236-9364.
