The Community Blood Center announces 35th annual Appleton MASH blood drive

For every blood donation received, CBC will make a monetary donation to AMVETS Post 30 in Greenville

The Community Blood Center’s (CBC) 2023 Appleton MASH blood drive is here! This year’s event marks 35 years of MASH in Appleton. All presenting donors will receive this year’s MASH t-shirt, lunch, and refreshments. CBC is proud to partner with AMVETS Post 30 in Greenville for this event and will be making a monetary donation for every blood donation received.

Appleton MASH

Wednesday, June 28, 2023

7 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Fox Cities Exhibition Center

355 W. Lawrence St., Appleton

CBC’s MASH events first began in 1989. At that that time, about 137 blood donors came to downtown Appleton to donate. This year, at the 35th annual Appleton MASH, CBC hopes to see more than 500 donors.

“It’s exciting to see how much MASH has grown through the years and to reflect on the thousands of lives saved,” said John Hagins, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Community Blood Center. “It’s because of the blood donors, volunteers, and community supporters that we’ve been able to continue this fun and special tradition each summer. We’re looking forward to our 35th Appleton MASH and many more years to follow.”

As tradition follows, this year’s Appleton MASH will feature military items from the Army National Guard and AMVETS Post 30. Ed Koslowski from AMVETS Post 11 is supporting the event again this year with the Radar O’Reilly/Klinger MASH office tent display.

Appleton MASH is just one of four MASH events each summer. Waupaca MASH is scheduled for July 5; then, it’s off to the Northwoods for Hodag MASH on July 20 and Merrill MASH on August 3.

Summer is a difficult time to find blood donors as many are busy enjoying the warm weather, taking vacations, and filling their schedules with other summer activities. Making a blood donation isn’t always at the top of the to-do list. At the same time, recreational traumas and injuries can lead to an increased need for blood in the summer months. This is why MASH blood drives are so important—to give a little extra incentive (and a fun and different experience!) to donors and help ensure a steady and reliable blood supply in the summer.
