Pierce School 2 Work Welcome Event

Pierce Manufacturing will host a School 2 Work Welcome Event for high school students participating in the six-week youth apprenticeship program.

According to the National Association of Manufacturers, the manufacturing skills gap in the U.S. is projected to result in 2.1 million unfilled jobs by 2030. While Pierce team members have made transformative pivots to create efficiencies during the challenging post-pandemic months, each year, the company celebrates 30, 40, and even 50-year anniversaries, which has resulted in a generational shift in the workforce.

In recent years, Pierce has focused on creating educational pathways by working with local and regional technical schools to emphasize the importance of the trades in education.

One tactic Pierce’s team has established to remain committed to building its workforce of the future is the implementation of the “School 2 Work” Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship Program – a partnership with CESA 6 and area school districts. The Youth Apprenticeship Program integrates school-based and work-based learning. Students accepted into the program continue taking classes at their high school while working as an apprentice at a participating business. The goal of the program is to give students insight into all the possibilities available to them and give them the opportunity to start building valuable skills.

Pierce’s School 2 Work program has significantly expanded over the past year. The summer 2023 program will welcome 13 production, 3 paint, 1 CNC, and 9 drafter apprentices from 9 different schools across the Fox Valley area.
