New North board of directors play pivotal role in organization’s success

41-person group provides diverse, high-level vision and anticipates future needs of region

New North Inc., the regional economic development corporation for the 18 counties of Northeast Wisconsin, celebrates its many successes in 2023. Playing a pivotal role in supporting and guiding the organization’s achievements is the 41-person board of directors.

“We are grateful to our board of directors, who provide direction, leadership and support,” says Barb LaMue, president and CEO of New North Inc. “We are fortunate to have this group of highly connected, diverse visionaries – across industries and geography – who set the direction for our plan of work.”

Two regional leaders recently were added to the New North board of directors, Gene Schleusner and Tony Steffek.

Schleusner Gene

Schleusner is executive vice president for Consolidated Construction Co., Inc., of Appleton. He has been with the company for 15 years, first joining Consolidated to introduce and lead construction in the hospitality sector. Following that successful launch and subsequent growth, Schleusner became a majority shareholder and was appointed to the board of directors in 2016. Today, he oversees the business development and marketing teams, and continues to develop Consolidated’s vertical markets and drive its entry into new geographic areas, while also managing strategic initiatives related to the company as a whole. Before joining Consolidated, Schleusner enjoyed a long career in construction, first owning and operating his own residential and commercial construction firm, then with Goldridge Construction of Eau Claire.

Steffek Tony

Steffek is a partner and attorney within the Green Bay office of Amundsen Davis, having first joined the firm (then known as Davis & Kuelthau) more than a decade ago. He specializes in labor and employment law, assisting businesses and public-sector entities with human resources matters of all types. Earlier in his professional career, Steffek served as an in-house counsel for a multi-modal provider of transportation and logistics services. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a juris doctorate from Marquette University Law School.
