Opening day for Miracle League of the Fox Valley, a program of Goodwill North Central Wisconsin (Goodwill NCW), is Monday, June 10.

This year, Miracle League players and fans will experience a newly renovated field. The original field was installed in 2010 and has been renovated thanks to gifts from: the David L. & Rita E. Nelson Family Fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, Goodwill NCW and an anonymous donor.

“John Wollner Fox Cities Miracle Field is more than a field for families in our communities,” Tim Wavrunek, Mission Team Leader of Community Programs at Goodwill NCW said. “It’s about building the players self-confidence and self-esteem. It means the sport of baseball is accessible for everyone to enjoy.”

Miracle League offers children and teens with disabilities the opportunity to play baseball in an organized, non-competitive league on a safe, accessible baseball field. Throughout the season players ages four to 19, are paired with community volunteers who assist and encourage them during the games. This year, Miracle League of the Fox Valley has 234 playersVolunteer pitchers, umpires, announcers, coaches and team helpers also make up the more than 350 who are a vital part of the 2024 season.

The Miracle League of the Fox Valley is entering its 14th season. Games are played at 5:30 and 7 p.m. and the public is invited to attend the games throughout the season as supportive fans.

The media is invited to attend the Miracle League of the Fox Valley Miracle Field Ribbon Cutting on Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at John Wollner Fox Cities Miracle Field in Memorial Park, 1620 E. Witzke Blvd, Appleton. Interviews will be available with program leaders along with photo and video opportunities.
