Proceeds will support Northeast Wisconsin-based nonprofit Take ‘em Outdoors
Matthews Tire will host their annual Oil Change for the Better event July 24 – 28 and July 31 – August 4. For every regular-priced oil change during the event at all six locations (in Appleton–East and West, Menasha, Waupaca, Fond du Lac and Green Bay), Matthews Tire will donate $15 to Take ‘em Outdoors.
“Take ‘em Outdoors officially began in 2006 when a donation I received funded our first Battle on the Bay fishing event,” said Take ‘em Outdoors Founder and President Shad Loch. “Since then, we’ve been operating as a volunteer-only nonprofit that covers the food, lodging, transportation, tools, trophies and more for the kids or veterans we take on fishing or hunting trips.”
Take ‘em Outdoors is based out of Green Bay and offers its unique outdoor experiences to those with limited opportunities: either children with severe or terminal illnesses or combat-wounded veterans. Funds raised during Oil Change for the Better will likely go toward more hunting trips and game taxidermy for the people served.
Trevor Rezner, president of Matthews Tire, expressed, “We organize Oil Change for the Better to raise money for incredible charitable causes within our community. We also aim to shed light on the exceptional work carried out by smaller organizations. Through this event, we hope to inspire more people to support Take ’em Outdoors and contribute to their distinct mission.”
Take ‘em Outdoors is a Northeast Wisconsin-based nonprofit dedicated to taking either children with severe or terminal illnesses or combat-wounded veterans into the outdoors. Begun in 2007 as a way to provide options to those with limited opportunities, Take ‘em Outdoors has grown into a wonderful experience for both the recipients of the program and those providing it. People who have a child diagnosed with a severe illness or handicap or who are combat-wounded veterans are encouraged to contact Take ‘em Outdoors for a chance to get into the woods and out on the water. Oil Change for the Better is an annual charity event held by Matthews Tire. This July will be the 11th annual Oil Change for the Better event. Since 2012, Matthews Tire has raised over $89,955 for various local nonprofits including Fox Valley Humane Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Salvation Army, Disabled American Veterans Transportation Program, Catalpa Health’s Race for a Reason, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Old Glory Honor Flight, Saving Paws Animal Rescue, Walleyes for Kids, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Child Care Resource & Referral, SOAR Fox Cities, WisconSibs, Breast Cancer Family Foundation, a variety of local food pantries, Wisconsin Veterans Village Association and Hand-N-Hand of Northeastern Wisconsin.
