Fox Valley Technical College Honored with National Marketing Award

The college applauded for project highlighting diversity, equity and inclusion

Xiong Fire 0012 1Fox Valley Technical College received a 2022 Paragon Award from the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) at the council’s national conference earlier this month in Orlando, Florida. The Bronze Award, for Successful Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Marketing, celebrates the college’s marketing team for its work highlighting FVTC graduate Xiong Yang and his history-making career as one of only a handful of Hmong firefighters in Wisconsin.

“We are honored Xiong shared his family’s story of perseverance with our team, and in turn, trusted us to share it with our college community,” says Barb Dreger, director of College Marketing. “Xiong is using his profession as an outreach tool to embrace diversity in the community and inspire Hmong children to think about their future. Neenah Menasha Fire Rescue is fortunate to have Xiong on its staff; we are fortunate to call Xiong an FVTC alum.”

These people are pros in every sense of the word.”

The 2022 Paragon Awards drew 1,726 entries from 323 colleges across the country and was judged by more than 40 marketing and public relations professionals.

NCMPR’s Paragon Awards recognize outstanding achievement in design and communication at community and technical colleges. It’s the only national competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges.

Fox Valley Technical College, part of the Wisconsin Technical College System, offers more than 250 associate degree, technical diploma and other certificate programs. It serves more than 45,000 individuals annually — more than any other technical college in the state.

NCMPR supports the professional development of community college communicators, serving nearly 1,650 members from 550 colleges across the United States and Canada. It’s the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges and is one of the largest affiliates of the American Association of Community Colleges. NCMPR is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
