Fox Cities Chamber to Present ‘The Drug Crisis: Problems and Solutions for the Fox Cities’ on Thursday, June 20

No challenge has been more devastating to Wisconsin communities large and small than the drug epidemic we have faced for over two decades. America now loses over 110,000 people to accidental overdoses every year. But the impact reaches far beyond the deaths and is taxing our human services, child protection, criminal justice, law enforcement, EMS, treatment and health care systems nearly to their breaking points … not to mention the impact on families and businesses in the Fox Cities.

To learn what can be done to help combat this crisis, the public is invited to attend a free seminar on Thursday, June 20, from 8 – 9 a.m. at Miron Construction, 1471 McMahon Drive in Neenah.

At the seminar, Judge Brad Schimel will draw on 35 years in the justice system to talk in depth about the nature of this epidemic, how we got here, what we are doing about it, and what else needs to be done. Every one of us has an opportunity to be part of the solution. Come learn how you can help.

Brad Schimel began his legal career in the Waukesha County DAs Office in 1989. After 17 years as a front-line prosecutor, he was elected Waukesha County DA. After being twice reelected as DA, Schimel was elected as Wisconsin’s 44th Attorney General in 2014. In 2019, Schimel began the next chapter of his 35 year career in public service in his current role presiding over Branch 6 of the Waukesha County Circuit Court. As DA, Schimel lead the team that created the Waukesha Drug Treatment Court Program and served on the inaugural Statewide Opiate Task Force. As AG, he created and implemented our state’s Drug Take Back program and the award-winning Dose of Reality drug abuse prevention and awareness program that has been adopted in multiple states. As judge, he has come full circle and presided over the Drug Treatment Court he helped create.
