Exotic Pet Surrender Event Scheduled for August 10th

Cichlid 1

J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue, in collaboration with the Pet Advocacy Network and the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant/Water Resources Institutes, is pleased to announce an upcoming Exotic Pet Surrender Event. The event will take place on Saturday, August 10th, from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Oshkosh Public Library, located at 106 Washington Ave, Oshkosh, WI 54901.

This event is designed to assist pet owners who are no longer able to care for their exotic pets. A variety of exotic animals, including fish, invertebrates, reptiles, pet birds, small mammals, and plants, will be accepted with no questions asked.

Important Information:

  • Domestic pets and farm animals, such as dogs, cats, rats, mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, goats, horses, pigs, and chickens, will not be accepted. For assistance with these types of animals, please contact your local Humane Society.
  • Wisconsin native animals taken from the wild cannot be accepted. For guidance on finding a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, please refer to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources website.

Event Highlights:

  • Meet Animal Ambassadors and hear their unique stories.
  • Capture memorable moments at our photobooth with rescued pets.

Why Surrender? Releasing pets into the wild can be detrimental to both the animals and the environment. By surrendering your exotic pets at this event, you ensure they receive proper care and a chance for rehoming.

Adoption Information: All surrendered animals will be available for adoption following a brief quarantine period. Please ensure your pet is brought in a secure container.

Event Sponsors: We extend our gratitude to Festival Foods, Chemi-Pure, Jellyfish Art, and Reef Aquaria Design for their generous support.

For further information regarding the Exotic Pet Surrender Event, please contact John Moyles at J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue via email at [email protected].

Join us in making a positive impact on the lives of these remarkable animals.
