Construction Underway for Fox Valley Pop Warner’s New ADA-Compliant Football Field

Field to be used by Challenger League, which provides kids with disabilities an opportunity to play flag football

Fox Valley Pop Warner Football celebrated a milestone today with the groundbreaking ceremony of a new state-of-the-art, ADA-compliant football field designed specifically for the Challenger League. This event, held at Plamann Park in Appleton, marks the beginning of construction for a synthetic turf field tailored to enhance safety and mobility for children with disabilities.

Kurt Dietzen, President of Fox Valley Pop Warner, expressed his enthusiasm for the project. “Today is not just about breaking ground; it’s about breaking barriers,” said Dietzen. “This new field represents our commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that all children, regardless of their abilities, have a place to play and grow through sports.”

The field will feature a 60-yard playing surface, a scoreboard, a press box, and ADA-compliant pathways, enhancing access and playability for all participants. The synthetic turf will provide a stable, firm, and slip-resistant surface.

“What’s great about the playing surface is it will remain consistent and durable through wet and dry conditions,” said Dave Voss, president and CEO of Miron Construction. “This makes it possible for wheelchairs to glide easily, along with support braces and other mobility equipment that may be needed.”

The Challenger League field will be the only one of its kind in Wisconsin. Construction is expected to be complete by this fall.

The project is supported by notable donors, including Miron Construction, Scheels Sports, Green Bay Packers Give Back, David L and Rita E Nelson Family Fund, Rex Gromer Family, Community First Credit Union, and Nicolet Bank.
