The following is a statement from Amanda Secor, spokesperson for the Community First Fox Cities Marathon Presented by Miron Construction:
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of the Community First Fox Cities Marathon, ThedaCare Half Marathon and OSMS Relay Marathon scheduled for Sunday, Sep. 22, 2024. The decision was made in the interest of safety for all runners, volunteers, public service employees and spectators due to the forecast of thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rain predicted to affect the course during the initial hours of the event.
Unfortunately, the anticipated weather conditions do not provide a feasible window for delaying the start of the events, as safety remains our top priority. This difficult decision was reached after careful consultation with national weather service sites and WBAY meteorologists to ensure the well-being of everyone involved.
We share in the disappointment felt by our participants and supporters. This decision was not made lightly, and we appreciate your understanding and support as we prioritize safety above all.
Participants will receive additional information via email regarding the cancellation and any further details. We are committed to keeping everyone informed and will update with more details as they become available.
We thank the community, participants and our dedicated volunteers for their continued support and understanding during this challenging time.”
