City of Menasha Police Department: Charges Issued in Homicide Investigation

The City of Menasha Police Department has been advised that the Winnebago District Attorney’s Office will be pursuing charges against 54 year old, Catherine Ann Cheskie, of Menasha, for First Degree Intentional Homicide. The victim has been identified as 71 year old, Thomas A. Guyette of Menasha.

On 02/24/2024 at approximately 5:09 am Menasha officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Chute Street for the report of a male with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers located Thomas A. Guyette deceased at the scene. As a result of the investigation, Catherine Ann Cheskie, was taken into custody for First Degree intentional Homicide.

Menasha Police Chief Nick Thorn and the entire Menasha Police Department would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Mr. Guyette. Our thoughts remain with them as they seek comfort and healing during this time.

This was an isolated incident, and the suspect and victim were acquaintances. We are not actively searching for additional suspects and the public is not in any danger. The Menasha Police Department would like to thank members of the community for their patience during the investigative process. Given the nature of the offense, a swift yet thorough and meticulous investigation is necessary to bring justice in this case. We would also like to thank our area law enforcement partners that assisted with this investigation.

Catherine Ann Cheskie is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The Menasha Police Department will not be releasing additional information about the investigation at this time.
