City Center Plaza set to become Fox Commons

It started with a vision by Dark Horse Development to reimagine the City Center Plaza on College Avenue, bringing new life to downtown Appleton’s heart by creating a thriving urban hub. Over the last year, the team of Dark Horse Development and The Boldt Company have been diligently working on a plan to transform and reinvigorate the City Center Plaza. Upon completion, the redevelopment project will be named Fox Commons and anchored by health & wellness services, retail, office, and food & beverage users.

Mosaic Family Health has been engaged with Dark Horse Development and The Boldt Company, seriously exploring the opportunity to anchor the redevelopment by relocating and expanding their operations to the Fox Commons. The clinic is planning to enhance services and grow its urgent care capabilities.

With an array of health-related occupants, the Health Commons will become a “gathering place for wellness.” In addition to primary care, the goal is to attract businesses offering various health and wellness services, including medical/group fitness, behavioral health, nutrition counseling, and related programming. A food hall, retail, office, and a start-up/co-working space, led by gener8tor, a nationally recognized start-up incubator, will complement the health commons and create a destination gathering place for the community.

This transformative project aims to bring new life to the heart of downtown Appleton and attract more young professionals to the area. The City of Appleton has identified the revitalization of the City Center Plaza as a priority in its Comprehensive Plan. The development team will begin working with City officials on project details as leasing commitments are secured. To aid in the leasing efforts on the project, the development team has partnered with NAI Pfefferle as the lead broker on the project.
