On February 1st, J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue (JRAAR) invites you to celebrate National Serpent Day, a day dedicated to appreciating snakes and their importance in our world. With over 70 snakes taken in last year and dozens still seeking homes, this is the perfect time to slither into action and learn more about these fascinating creatures.
Snakes often get a bad rap, but they play critical roles in ecosystems and even in medicine. From the tiny Barbados thread snake to the mighty green anaconda, serpents have captured human curiosity for centuries. This National Serpent Day, JRAAR is committed to educating the community about the beauty and benefits of these misunderstood animals.
Snake Facts to Share this National Serpent Day:
🐍 Only 1/8 of snake species are venomous, and most pose no threat to humans.
🐍 Snakes are expert hunters that keep pest populations in check.
🐍 Their unique anatomy allows them to eat prey up to three times the size of their heads!
