Booth Registration Open for Fox Cities Chamber Career Expo

Local employers invited to register for the April 15/16 event

Fox Cities businesses can now register for a booth at the Fox Cities Chamber’s annual career expo, slated for April 15 – 16 at the Fox Cities Exhibition Center, 355 W. Lawrence Street, Appleton. The annual Future Fox Cities Career Expo attracts more than 3,000 8th through 12th grade students from around the Fox Cities each year.

According to Aimee Herrick, Director of Events and Emerging Talent at the Fox Cities Chamber, the expo provides an excellent opportunity for Fox Cities businesses to connect with the future of our workforce; to have those conversations and help fill their talent pipelines.

“Now more than ever, we recognize the importance of these K-16 outreach programs as a way of attracting and retaining much-needed talent in the Fox Cities,” said Herrick. “Our employers really value the opportunity to inspire and connect with the next generation at this event.”

She added that the goal of Future Fox Cities is to link regional employers and students, to create partnerships between education and industry, define career pathways for students, and develop career-based learning opportunities to help fill our local employers’ talent pipelines. At the two-day event there will be a wide variety of employer booths to visit and opportunities to plunge into engaging and interactive experiences and conversations with regional employers and career professionals. Students will receive information on career opportunities, expected starting salaries and job titles, skills and interests of employees, supporting high school coursework, and any post-high school training or education needed for that employer/job.

Employers may provide information about career-based learning opportunities available at their organization such as job shadowing, informational interviews, classroom visits, company tours, internships, summer employment, part-time employment, school-to-work pathways, youth apprenticeships, and more. These days provide up close and personal career exploration! Fox Cities students in 8th grade seeking resources for navigating the career expo will receive career exploration lesson plans from Junior Achievement, thanks to a partnership between Junior Achievement and the Fox Cities Chamber. Through the partnership, Junior Achievement will provide lesson plans and activities for teachers to assist students in their preparation for the event.

Student attendance is provided through Fox Cities school districts – including schools in Outagamie County, Calumet County, and the northern portion of Winnebago County.
