U.S. Venture Children’s Week in Appleton is excited to announce that the community-wide celebration of kids will return July 21 – 27, 2024. This special event, dedicated to the kids in our community, consists of a week full of free or reduced cost family activities, including signature events such as the Children’s Parade, Playground Fair, and more.
“U.S. Venture Children’s Week allows us to showcase how much Appleton values the kids and families in our community,” said Oliver Zornow, President of the Building for Kids. “By offering so many free or reduced-cost activities in one week, this summer tradition creates an intentional space for families to imagine, create, play, and build lasting memories together.”
Signature Events:
Children’s Week Kick-Off Event – July 21
- U.S. Venture Children’s Week kicks off with a Kids Fun Run at Memorial Park, starting at 6:30pm. For this year’s Fun Run, Appleton Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a color run!
YMCA Rock the Block Party – July 23
- The downtown Appleton YMCA is hosting a Rock the Block Party from 4:30 – 7:30pm with fun for the whole family.
BFK Children’s Parade presented by ThedaCare – July 24
- During this free annual summer tradition, kids and their families are invited to parade through the streets of downtown Appleton in themed costumes and non-motorized floats! The parade will kick-off in Houdini Plaza, and families will be sent down College Avenue in waves between starting at 6pm. After the parade, families are welcome to stay for the after-party in City Park, featuring activities, food trucks, and an awards ceremony.
Parks & Recreation Department’s Playground Fair – July 25-26
- Appleton Parks and Recreation Department hosts two fun-filled days of carnival games, the trackless train, giant inflatables, great food, and entertainment at Pierce Park, starting each day at 2pm. Kids can also visit the prize redemption center to cash in their tickets and take home fun prizes.
Additional activities throughout the week include free storytimes, karate classes, admission to local museums, ice skating, dance programs, and swimming at area pools. There will also be a kids’ rummage sales, plus more activities from local partners.

In its 15-year history, U.S. Venture Children’s Week has hosted thousands of families in Appleton for safe and fun activities. Appleton Parks and Recreation Department, Appleton YMCA, and Building for Kids Children’s Museum are the three beneficiaries for U.S. Venture Children’s Week.
