Street Music Week, an annual celebration where musicians come together to showcase their talents while raising money to help feed the community, is looking to add another talented musician into the efforts to help showcase the communal spirit of this event and the power of music through song.
This year, organizers of the event are encouraging submissions for a Street Music Week theme song. Other than a lifetime worth of bragging rights, the winner of this songwriting competition will also receive the chance to showcase their talents during Street Music Week through event marketing, social media and press coverage as well as fun gifts from participating partners and a $100 gift card to Heid Music.
“Street Music week is something we have been proud to help facilitate for the last decade. We are grateful to the incredible community of musicians who have come out and donated their time & talents to inspire people to donate funds to support the efforts of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. The theme song/jingle competition added to this year is to help us find additional ways to complete the story of what it means to be a part of this grassroots community effort. Adding the music to the visual story helps provide powerful context.” President Heid Music, DeDe Heid.
Interested musicians should write or record a jingle or theme song that they believe highlights the impact Street Music Week has on everyone involved, and post it to their personal social media pages using #streetmusicweek and tagging Heid Music, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, and Appleton Downtown Inc.
“Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is extremely grateful to be involved with Street Music Week,” said President and CEO, Patti Habeck. “We can achieve amazing accomplishments when the community comes together as one, and Street Music Week is a prime example of that. We are excited to listen to all of the theme song submissions and look forward to seeing the entire community out and about this coming June.”
Entrants should use Facebook, TikTok or Instagram to post their submissions.
