The Fox Cities Chamber’s annual career expo for 8th- through 12th-grade students will return to an in-person format Tuesday-Wednesday, March 8-9, 2022 at the Fox Cities Exhibition Center, 355 W. Lawrence Street, Appleton. The popular event was held in a virtual format in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fox Cities students in 8th grade seeking resources for navigating the career expo will receive career exploration lesson plans from Junior Achievement, thanks to a partnership announced today by the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce, which hosts the event.
Through the partnership, Junior Achievement will provide lesson plans and activities for teachers to assist students in their preparation for the event.
The first day of the event, March 8, will be open to 8th-grade students only. Students will receive information on career opportunities, how to prepare for a career with high school coursework, and other engaging and interactive experiences with regional employers. The second day, March 9, is targeted toward high-school students and will provide information on job shadowing, informational interviews, classroom visits, company tours, internships, summer employment, part-time employment, youth apprenticeships, and more.
“Now more than ever, we recognize the importance of these K-16 outreach programs as a way of attracting and retaining much-needed talent in the Fox Cities,” said Sharla Jens, Vice President for Employer and Talent Development at the Fox Cities Chamber. “Our employers really value the opportunity to inspire and connect with the next generation at this event. We’re so glad to be back in person for 2022.”
Student attendance is provided through Fox Cities school districts – including schools in Outagamie County, Calumet County, and the northern portion of Winnebago County.
