Tomorrow River School District has broken ground on the facility projects approved by voters in the District’s April 2022 $25.7 million referendum. District officials, staff, students, and representatives from Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction, Inc. celebrated the beginning of construction, which is highlighted by the addition of the Herbert and Evelyn Wolding Family STEAM Center.
“Our staff, students, and community are thrilled that renovations and additions are underway and will breathe new life and opportunity into our schools,” said Mike Richie, Tomorrow River School District Administrator. “These projects will bring many of our classrooms and spacesup to date, provide safer and more secure buildings, and offer an incredible, state-of-the-art 38,000 sq. ft. STEAM center.”
Richie continues, “On behalf of the School Board, I’d like to thank District residents for their trust and loyal support of our school and community. The STEAM Center will inspire students for generations to come.” The STEAM Center (science, technology, engineering, arts, agriculture, and math) will be located on the northeast corner of the high school where the existing tech ed building is located.
The existing science and art classrooms will be remodeled, and 17,300 sq. ft. of libraries, food science, and middle school classrooms will also be remodeled or updated. Additional referendum projects include renovations to family and consumer science areas, infrastructure replacements and upgrades, expansion of administrative and support spaces, and safety and security improvements. The elementary and middle schools will receive new offices with secure entries on the southwest side of the school.
Tomorrow River Schools partnered with Hoffman to perform a comprehensive assessment of their District facilities in preparation for the referendum. Following the successful passage of the referendum, Hoffman provided design and now construction services.
“Hoffman is proud to be partnering with the Tomorrow River School District and community on this important investment in their schools,” said Matt McGregor, Hoffman senior project manager. “It was wonderful to see the District perform their due diligence and the community support these decisions. We’re glad we were able to help them address their areas of concern and are excited to have these new and renovated spaces start taking shape.”
All projects are expected to conclude prior to the start of the 2024-2025 school year, with the office and secure entries scheduled for completion this fall.
