Birds of a feather deserve to flock together—and today, J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue invites the community to celebrate National Bird Day by learning about our feathered friends and exploring opportunities to adopt!
As Wisconsin’s leading exotic animal rescue, we care for hundreds of birds each year, from colorful parakeets to talkative parrots, and we’re proud to give these magnificent creatures a second chance. In honor of National Bird Day, we’re showcasing some of our adoptable birds and raising awareness about their needs, challenges, and the joy they bring to homes.

Why National Bird Day Matters
National Bird Day is celebrated annually on January 5 to draw attention to the beauty, intelligence, and ecological importance of birds. It also highlights critical issues affecting bird populations worldwide, such as habitat loss, the illegal pet trade, and climate change. Birds play essential roles in ecosystems, from seed dispersal to pest control, and serve as indicators of environmental health.
