This two-day event hosts students from Outagamie, Calumet and Northern Winnebago counties, connecting them to regional employers in the following six career clusters:
- Health Sciences
- Communication and Information Systems
- Industrial, Manufacturing and Engineering
- Human Services and Resources
- Business, Marketing and Management
- Environmental and Agricultural Systems
Day One: 8th grade students will have a wide variety of employer booths in all six career clusters to choose from, and opportunities to plunge into engaging and interactive experiences and conversations with regional employers and career professionals. This day provides up close and personal career exploration! Students will receive information on career opportunities, expected starting salaries and job titles, skills and interests of employees, and any post high school training or education needed for that employer/job. Educator/Student toolkits will be provided.
Day Two: 9th – 12th grade students will experience a choice of two breakout sessions focused on soft skills and career based learning opportunities, and then visit employer booths to make solid connections in their areas of interest. Employers will provide information about career-based learning opportunities available at their organization such as job shadowing, informational interviews, classroom visits, company tours, internships, summer employment, part-time employment, school to work pathways, youth apprenticeships and more! This day provides up close and personal career development!
“I just wanted to reach out and say thank you and keep up the good work with our students in the Fox Valley! There is nothing parents can do to reach our kids in the same way as people who are working in their industry of interest.” (Quote from a student's parent who attended the 2019 event)
