Matthews Tire is hosting their 15th Oil Change for the Better event October 21-26, 2019. For every regular-priced oil change performed throughout the week at all six locations (in Appleton–East and West, Menasha, Waupaca, Fond du Lac and Green Bay), Matthews Tire will donate $10 to the Breast Cancer Family Foundation, a local non-profit organization dedicated to educating the youth in our communities about cancer.

“By making healthy choices early on in life, we can influence our long-term health and lower our overall cancer risk. When our health is defined by the opportunities available to us, having knowledge around cancer prevention early on in life is a proactive approach that ensures these behaviors become lifelong habits for our community and future generations,” Executive Director Diane Gaywont shared.

Money raised through Oil Change for the Better will help fund the Breast Cancer Family Foundation’s middle school and high school programs, answering the tough questions kids may have about cancer and providing a healthy dialogue for them, along with offering children great suggestions for things they can do to prevent cancer.  “Most people know someone that is or was affected by breast cancer.  The Breast Cancer Family Foundation is a great way to reach the kids in those families—and in all families—and offer them a trusted and knowledgeable resource for asking their questions and feeling in control,” said Matthews Tire President Trevor Rezner. “We’re proud to support this local organization and help bring awareness to their cause.”

Oil Change for the Better is a semi-annual, weeklong charity event held by Matthews Tire. This October will be the fifteenth Oil Change for the Better event. In the last seven-plus years, Matthews Tire has raised nearly $50,000 for various local nonprofits including Fox Valley Humane Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Salvation Army, Disabled American Veterans Transportation Program, Catalpa Health’s Race for a Reason, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Old Glory Honor Flight, Saving Paws Animal Rescue, Walleyes for Kids, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Child Care Resource & Referral, SOAR Fox Cities and WisconSibs.

Breast Cancer Family Foundation is a 501(c) (3) status non-profit organization located in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  BCFF was founded in 1999 by Kris Labutzke after experiencing the effects of cancer firsthand.  Initially set up to provide support and resources for families of cancer patients, BCFF’s focus has shifted to providing “Cancer Awareness and Prevention” presentations to over 10,000 local high school students and thousands of adults in our community every year.  It is on the web at www.bcff.org.

Matthews Tire is a locally owned tire and automotive service provider with locations in Appleton–East and West, Green Bay, Menasha, Fond du Lac and Waupaca. The last Oil Change for the Better event was held in April and raised $5,000 for WisconSibs. For more information, visit matthewstire.com.
