Leadership Fox Cities Alumni Association Hosts Inaugural Cornhole Tournament

Published Monday, September 9, 2019

The Leadership Fox Cities Alumni Association (LFCAA), a program of the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce, is proud to announce its inaugural LFC Cornhole Tournament, October 13, at Waverly Beach in Menasha.

Registration for the event is $75 for non-members and $50 for LFCAA members. Teams can register via the events calendar at foxcitieschamber.com through October 1, 2019, or until the tournament reaches capacity at 32 teams. Each team will receive lunch, a beverage and admission into the double-elimination tournament. Check-in begins at 11am, a brief program will start at noon, and games start at approximately 12:30pm.

Proceeds from this event will support scholarship funding for participants who are accepted into the Leadership Fox Cities program. This includes members of non-profits and employers with fewer than fifteen employees. In addition to these funds, financial support is made available to support small group projects that occur within the LFC program.

Leadership Fox Cities is an annual program that educates forty leaders of the community on various causes, issues and emerging needs of the Fox Cities. It also requires them to complete a sustainable project that will benefit the community through non-profit work, schools or general community improvements. A few examples include:

  • Weight of the Fox Valley, a three-county initiative with a shared vision of working together to achieve and maintain a healthy weight at every age
  • Public Service Announcement of the United Way’s 2-1-1 program
  • Buddy Benches, arranged with Menasha Joint School District, to discourage bullying while promoting inclusion and helping young students understand how to treat one another

“Every year there are individuals interested in the LFC program who apply for a scholarship to help subsidize the cost of the program,” states President of LFCAA, Matt Brehmer. “For some of these individuals, a scholarship is the only way they can participate in LFC. Our hope with our LFC Cornhole Tournament this year and in all future years is to raise enough money to fund a number of scholarships every year for many years to come,” says Matt. “Opening access to the LFC program for all individuals is pivotal to the program’s success, as well as to the future success of the Fox Valley.”
