As a part of Jewelers Mutual’s National Giving Campaign, it is partnering with the Kids In Need Foundation to give back to schools in Northeast Wisconsin and donate backpacks with complete supplies to every student. In total, 2,000 backpacks will be distributed between Thursday, Sept. 5-Friday, Sept. 6.
“Kids right here in Northeast Wisconsin are in need of school supplies,” said Scott Murphy, president and CEO at Jewelers Mutual. “We knew something needed to be done in our community to help provide for these students and families, and we are honored to be a part of this positive give back.”
Students will receive supplies such as pencils, pencil pouches, notebooks, crayons, markers and more. Schools were selected based on the percentage of the student population who take part in free or reduced lunches.
On Sept. 5, Jewelers Mutual employees will stuff the backpacks at its headquarters in Neenah from 8 a.m.-noon. A school assembly will be held at Taft Elementary at 2 p.m. where the backpack donation and a fun celebration will take place as well as brief words from Kids In Need Foundation and Jewelers Mutual. The remainder of the backpacks will be distributed to the schools on Sept. 6.
“The back-to-school time can be stressful for some families, especially when it comes to purchasing supplies,” said Kristine Cohn, senior director of development & corporate partnerships at the Kids In Need Foundation. “Through this partnership with Jewelers Mutual, we hope to help relieve some of that school year stress for kids and parents.”
To continue supporting the Kids In Need Foundation, on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Bethune Park in downtown Minneapolis, the Kids In Need Foundation, alongside national sponsor Jewelers Mutual, will set a Guinness World Record for The Largest Packaged Product Sentence. School supplies such as pencils, scissors, colored pencils, notebooks and glue sticks will spell “Supply a Classroom.”
