“Bridging the Political/Ideological Divides” Discussion Series

Published Tuesday, August 6, 2019
Tired of gridlock and animosity? Want to have an open and respectful conversation with those whose political/ideological perspectives are different from your own?  Want to bridge the divide and find some values in common , despite your differences? Celebrate Diversity Fox Cities, along with partners, The Dignity and Respect Campaign of Appleton, League of Women Voters of Appleton, League of Women Voters of Winnebago County, and IndUS Fox Cities, is offering two discussion series this fall to give you opportunities to do just that.  Community members can progressively get to know each other during this discussion series, find out how participants developed their perspectives, and truly listen to each other in order to foster understanding and respect.   The goals are relationship-building and understanding, not trying to convince someone to change their views. For the two three-session series, each small group will be neutrally guided by pairs of our trained Celebrate Diversity Fox Cities facilitators using group guidelines to help ensure respectful listening and sharing by all.
If you are interested in participating, please pre-register at  this website; https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090f4ba9a92aa7fd0-bridging so we can plan to accommodate the numbers.
For the daytime series:  Please sign up by Aug. 28 for the Wednesday, Sept. 11, 18 and Oct. 2, 12:30-2:30 p.m. series at Neenah Library’s Shattuck room.  For the evening series, please sign up by Sept. 5 for the Thursday, Sept. 19, 26, and Oct. 3, 5:30-7:30 p.m. series at Appleton Library.  We will also accept participants who haven’t pre-registered, depending if space is available as long as you come to the first session. Participants will not be added to the groups after the first session of either series in order to build relationships.
We look forward to seeing you!
