Talent Retention in a Tight Labor Market is Focus of Workforce Training Event February 21 in Oshkosh

Published Monday, January 14, 2019

According to Gallup's 2017 State of the American Workplace report, 51% of currently employed adults in the U.S. say they are searching for new jobs or watching for new job opportunities. As the economy continues to go like gangbusters, this number has likely only increased as we enter 2019.

While employers struggle to attract new talent, they also need to do everything possible to retain the workers they have. Area workforce development partners are coming together to showcase area best practices around this topic. The annual training event, Collaborate to Succeed, will be 8 am – 2 pm, Thursday, February 21, at the Fox Valley Technical College Riverside Campus, 150 N. Campbell, Oshkosh.

Presenters from J. J. Keller & Associates, Great Northern Corporation, DealerFire and Plexus will share their first-hand experiences and results in:

  • Using the Design Thinking process for decision-making;
  • Developing a strategic plan to foster an engaged workforce;
  • Training internal candidates in preparation for future leadership positions as part of a career development process; and
  • Implementing retention strategies to achieve personal and professional success measures.

Collaborate to Succeed 4 has been developed by a group of regional workforce experts, including representatives from the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board, Fox Valley Technical College, Moraine Park Technical College and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

Seats are limited and pre-registration is required through EventBrite at: https://collaboratetosucceed4.eventbrite.com. The early bird rate of $75 will be available until January 28. The price increases to $85 from January 29-February 15. Ticket includes continental breakfast and lunch.
