Air travel continues to soar to new heights at Appleton International Airport. Appleton International Airport experienced a 20 percent increase in passengers in Oct. 2018, compared to the same month a year ago. Passenger year-to-year numbers in and out of Appleton International Airport have now increased for the past 18 months.
"We are excited to see more travelers taking advantage of the added flights and destinations being offered in Appleton," said Abe Weber, airport director. "Our new nonstop flight to Fort Myers/Punta Gorda on Allegiant was highly requested by the community, and we're proud to offer the added convenience of flying there nonstop from ATW."
As passenger numbers increase, Appleton International Airport is working hard to enhance the travel experience for those flying through Appleton. The airport is nearing the completion of a full terminal remodel featuring new ticket counters, a community meeting space, an updated restaurant, improved TSA checkpoint and a mother's room.
On Friday Nov. 16, Allegiant began new nonstop service to Fort Myers/Punta Gorda, Florida as part of Appleton International Airport's ongoing effort to meet customer demands in air travel today. The first departing flight was nearly full, and airport personnel helped celebrate with passengers by providing a fun-filled send off with cake, doughnuts and juice for the 9:45 a.m. flight.
