Summer is the time for kids’ imagination to run free and the perfect event for that is The Building for Kids Children’s Museum’s (BFKCM) 10th Annual Children’s Parade presented by ThedaCare on Wednesday, July 25 in downtown Appleton. The parade invites children and their families to decorate bicycles, tricycles, strollers or wagons and wear costumes to parade through downtown expressing their creativity. Registration is free, but required, at buildingforkids.org.
The parade line up begins at 5:15 p.m. across from the BFKCM in Houdini Plaza. Step-off is at 6 p.m. with participants marching east on College Avenue, turning left on Drew Street and ending in City Park. Awaiting the participants in City Park will be a Fox Valley Food Truck Rally, music with 95.9 KISS FM and family inclusive activities. Prizes will also be awarded at City Park for individual and group floats for creativity, confidence, imagination and spirit.
New this year, the BFKCM will be offering Costume Creations on July 11 from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. and July 18 from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. This program will be conducted to help participants create their floats and costumes. Creative mentors will have supplies on hand and be available to help with ideas and creation. Registration is required for this program at buildingforkids.organd is free for members and $5 per family for non-members.
“We are very excited to be hosting this event for a memorable 10thyear,” said Jarrad Bittner, Executive Director at the BFKCM. “Every year the costumes and designs change but the character of the parade remains the same thanks to the smiles and excitement shown from the kids, their families, and the community.”
Children’s Parade is part of Children’s Week, an annual community-wide celebration of kids.
