The Fox Cities Chamber’s Octoberfest planning committee is currently accepting 2017-2018 grant applications. The application process is open to nonprofit organizations in the Fox Cities with projects designed to improve the community or strengthen the economy of the Fox Cities.
Interested organizations can apply by downloading a grant application at http://octoberfestonline.org/about/grant. Grant applications are due on March 15, 2018 and June 15, 2018. Grants are awarded the month following submission deadlines.
Using proceeds from the previous year’s event, Octoberfest contributes more than $50,000 annually in grants and donations to the local community. Giving back by supporting local nonprofit organizations and funding community projects embodies the true spirit on which the event was founded in 1981.
The Fox Cities Chamber’s Octoberfest planning committee recently awarded $36,250 in community grants to 11 nonprofit organizations throughout the Fox Cities during the previous grant period.
Over the years Octoberfest has supported numerous nonprofits including Appleton Police Department, Appleton Fire Department, Creative Downtown Inc., The Building for Kids, St. Joseph Food Program, the Boys and Girls Club and the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center.
In addition to the grant program, more than 100 local nonprofit organizations participate in Octoberfest each year by selling food to raise funds for their projects. For many of these organizations, Octoberfest is their largest fundraiser of the year.
Over the past 36 years, more than $2.5 million has been reinvested into the community as a result of Octoberfest.
