“As a membership organization of Christians, living generously is part of our mission,” said Community Engagement Leader Laura Gruender. “We believe part of being wise with money is supporting our members as they use their finances, time, and talent to make a difference in the lives of others.”
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
"Through our ongoing partnership with Thrivent Financial, our organization has made a significantly stronger impact on the lives of the thousands of people that we serve,” said St. Vincent de Paul Appleton Executive Director, Kristen Trimberger. “Thrivent Financial's pledge to match personal donations up to $10,000 on #GivingTuesday allows us to serve many more of our neighbors in need during the upcoming holiday season. We are incredibly grateful to collaborate with Thrivent Financial on #GivingTuesday to strengthen our community and help alleviate poverty," said Trimberger.

About St. Vincent de Paul Appleton
St. Vincent de Paul Appleton (SVdP) is a lay organization that leads women, men, and youth to join together and provide person-to-person services to those who are in need. The Society was founded on principles of helping the poor and being a voice for the voiceless. We provide a compassionate, listening ear and financial assistance to help people meet their basic needs for food and shelter. We also help with medical bills, utilities, transportation, clothing, home furnishings, employment opportunities, mentoring and other unique requests for assistance. The Society is funded through community donations and profits from its Thrift Stores. The Thrift Stores operate with all donated materials. Most of the Society’s work is done by volunteers who give countless hours to maintaining the stores, visiting the people that we serve and distributing financial assistance. Annually, SVdP reaches an estimated 80,000 people in our local community.
