NEW Manufacturing Alliance Announces 2017 Excellence In Manufacturing/K-12 Partnerships Awards

The Northeast Wisconsin (NEW) Manufacturing Alliance is pleased to announce the fifth annual  “Excellence in Manufacturing/K-12 Partnerships Awards” being held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay.  The event will spotlight best practices of manufacturing and education collaborations throughout northeast Wisconsin as well as showcasing top talent from local manufacturing companies. 

 

Mark Kaiser, president and CEO of Lindquist Machine Corp. and chair of the NEW Manufacturing Alliance stated, “The awards dinner is a celebration of the strong partnerships that have been formed between manufacturers and education.”  Kaiser added, “The evening will showcase best practices and provide other schools and manufacturers a roadmap they can replicate.”  Other activities the Alliance is sponsoring in the month of October are plant tours for students and educators throughout the region and being a co-sponsor of the Manufacturing First Expo & Conference being held on October 25-26, 2017 at the KI Convention Center.  Last year’s expo had over 1,300 attendees and over 170 exhibitors.  Another major event sponsored by the Alliance is the “Get Real Math Premiere” at the Meyer Theatre on Oct. 3, 2017.  The event will debut the newest installment of the Get Real Math! videos that showcase how math is used in the real world.  The program is from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Educators are the stars of the event and will walk down a red carpet.  There will be several drawings for schools to win $500 for their math or tech ed departments.  There is no cost to attend the Premiere, however preregistration is highly encouraged at:    2017 GRM REGISTRATION

In addition, the Alliance will also be announcing the 2017 All Star Award winners.  This award recognizes top talent at Alliance member companies.  Companies that have a winner are:  CMD Corp., Fox Valley Wood Products, Georgia Pacific, Great Northern Corp., Heartland Label Printers, Johnsonville Sausage, KI, Nature’s Way, Nicolet Plastics, and Rockline Industries.  Other attendees include scholarship winners from local high schools that received $1,000 or $2,500 college scholarships.  The Alliance awarded $40,000 worth of college scholarships for the 2017/2018 college term.  Over the last ten years, the Alliance has sponsored over $190,000 in college scholarships.

 

The cocktail reception begins at 4:30 p.m., including a silent auction to raise money for college scholarships for graduating high school students.  The dinner and awards program will begin at 6:15 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  Tickets are $60 and can be purchased at http://tinyurl.com/NEWMAEXCELLENCE17.   Tickets must be purchased by October 18, 2017.
