The law firm of Murphy Desmond S.C. has elected Attorney Jane F. (Ginger) Zimmerman to President of the firm, effective May 30, 2017. Zimmerman will be responsible for firm management and business development, and will continue to practice law in business, real estate, bankruptcy, secured transactions, agricultural and commercial transactions, and commercial litigation.
A lifelong Wisconsin resident, Zimmerman graduated from Oshkosh Lourdes High School in 1978 and is the daughter of the late O.B. and Polly Zimmerman.
She joined Murphy Desmond in 1992, and has served as Chair of the Board of Directors, as Managing Shareholder, and as a Practice Group Leader. She currently serves on the Board of the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Creditors' Rights Section.
Zimmerman has been recognized by Best Lawyers® in America, including 2016 Madison Lawyer of the Year, Wisconsin Super Lawyers, Top 25 Female Super Lawyers, and she is rated AV (top rating) by Martindale-Hubbell/lawyers.com. In 2016, she received the United Way of Dane County "Woman of the Year" Philanthropy Award from the United Way Women's Leadership Council.
Zimmerman earned her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. in 1982, and her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1985.
