The Appleton Housing Authority (AHA) announced today that it has been awarded significant grant funding from the State of Wisconsin Department of Administration for the 2017-2018 HOME Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) Program, which assists those experiencing homelessness in their transition to stable, safe and affordable housing in Appleton and surrounding Fox Cities communities. Partner agencies include the Salvation Army, Housing Partnership of the Fox Cities and the AHA, as lead agency.
Through the grant agreement, the AHA will receive $159,000.00 for short term rental assistance funding to directly help individuals who are homeless and disabled, including veterans, for up to an 18-month period. All individuals and families participating in the TBRA program must be enrolled in case management services with a partner agency.
TBRA funding has been provided to the AHA as lead agency since 2007, through Federal HOME funding from the State of Wisconsin Division of Energy, Housing and Community Resources.
Participants receive a preference for local housing programs, including the AHA’s Housing Choice Voucher program, after successfully completing their goals toward self-sufficiency.
“The challenge of providing affordable housing for everyone, especially homeless families, has never been greater,” noted Debra Dillenberg, AHA executive director. “Our agency is thrilled to be awarded continuing grant funds for the administration of the TBRA program, which has assisted more than 320 families in their transition from homelessness to finding a stable place of their own to call home since the start of the program,” Dillenberg said.
