Lakeside Packaging Plus (LPP), Inc. has been creating meaningful opportunities and community engagement for associates with diverse abilities for 55 years.
LPP was established in 1962 by parents of the Winnebago County ARC (now Covey), Neenah/Menasha ARC (now SOAR Fox Cities, Inc.) and Mental Health Associates. They believed there was a need for an organization to provide meaningful projects and day services to their adult children. Since day one, Lakeside has been an integral part of the families they serve, providing a place to work and engage in supervised activities.
Now more than 300 associates strong, LPP is a trusted partner for area businesses, providing hand-assembly and light production services. Recently LPP added Community Services, providing associates with opportunities to gain work experience on-site at local businesses. LPP also added a Senior Retirement Service allowing recent associate retirees a mix of individual and group activities, both in-house and in the community, which provides the foundation for an individualized healthy retirement. Three years ago LPP joined A-Team Wisconsin, a grassroots group that promotes choice through advocacy, awareness, and advisement from a diverse ability perspective. The A-Team has since expanded from 7 seven chapters in Wisconsin to 11 states. LPP is proud of their history and excited about the future. A significant part of the future will include providing associates the opportunities to explore the community and to participate in work activities beyond center-based employment within LLP.
Margaret Winn, CEO of LPP states, “We are excited to celebrate 55 years of business. LPP has been successful over the years because of our incredible staff members. They are the heart of LPP and create lasting differences in the lives of the people we serve. It has been my privilege to be part of LPP for 31 years and look forward to enhancing our mission of providing meaningful employment and activities that promote self-sufficiency and encourage individuals to pursue their right to self-determination going for several more years”.
